The symptoms of diabetes in cats and dogs can include:
- Drinking excessive water (or no water)
- Frequent or excessive urination
- Diminished activity
- Not eating for 12 hours or more
- Vomiting
- Lethargy

- Weakness
- Dehydration
- Ketone breath odor (smells like nail-polish remover or fruit)
Failure to treat diabetes in cats and dogs can lead to:
- cataracts (clouding of the lens of the eye)

- hardening of the arteries
- kidney disease
- retina disease
- bacteria infectrions
- gum disease
- urinary tract infections
- skin disorders
- other infections
