List of Recalled Pet Foods

FDA Pet Food Recall List -

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issues pet food recalls when a product is known or suspected to be toxic, poisonous or dangerous to pets or livestock.

There are three types of pet food recalls. Recalls may be:

  1. Conducted on the pet food company’s own initiative, or
  2. By FDA “request”, or
  3. By an FDA “order” that is mandatory under statutory authority.

When an FDA pet food recall “order” is issued, action must be taken by the food manufacturing firm and its distributors to immediately remove the product from the market. However, pet owners may already have the product in their homes – before it has been removed from shelves.

The list below contains the FDA pet food recalls for the last year. You can also check the FDA website for their complete updated list of pet food recalls.

What to Do If Your pet’s Food is On the Recall List

If your pet’s food or treats are recalled, immediately stop feeding the product to your pet – even if they have not shown any symptoms.

You can return recalled products to the store where you purchased them for a full refund or dispose of them in a secure area not accessible to animals. If you have questions about recalled food or treats, contact the manufacturer using the phone number or website printed on the pet food bag or can.

If your pet may have consumed a recalled product, consult your veterinarian, even if your pet isn’t showing any symptoms.

Reporting Poison or Toxic Pet Foods

If you believe that your pet was made ill, poisoned or passed away due to toxic, tainted or poison containing pet food you can report it to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Consumer Complaint Coordinator in your state.
